Lisa Ann discusses how the demand for extreme porn can damage new performers: ‘That does break you down as a woman’

That does break you down as a woman Lisa Ann News

retired adult film star has warned the growing appetite for ‘abuse’ porn is damaging amateur female performers, who are expected to take part in increasingly extreme scenes.

Lisa Ann left the industry in 2014 and now hosts a Fantasy Football show on Sirius XM radio. Unlike most performers whose careers within the industry often span just months or a few years, Ann appeared in adult films for two decades and has witnessed the industry's trajectory towards more hardcore films

Speaking to The Guardian, she claimed the difficulties some actresses face after leaving the adult industry often relate to the growing demand for extreme porn, and performers abusing drugs.

“There were times on set with people where I was like, ‘This is not a good situation. This is not safe. This girl is out of her mind and we’re not sure what she’s going to say when she leaves here,’” she said. “Everyone’s a ticking time bomb, and a lot of it is linked to the drugs. A lot of this new pain comes from these new girls who have to do these abusive scenes, because that does break you down as a woman.”

She says it's one of the worst things she has ever been asked to do in her career.

She said: "To me, that was so extreme, it traumatised me so much that anybody would even bring that in.

"I mean, I'm the person that when we walk into a location, if they had a cross hanging on the wall, or anything, I feel like we got to take that down. So we don't shoot it, to just be respectful, right?"

"So I just turned 49 and I think I'm at a great age to really just live the second act of my life.

"I love that I'm not feeling the health risk, because even though we're tested, there still is an occasional risk and outbreak, and I love the consistency to my schedule."

However, she hasn't shut the door on using her experience for something bigger.

Lisa's final scenes saw her enter the world of virtual reality for studio WetVR, after which she upped sticks and moved to the other side of the country to start a new life.

"During this time, I also realised, after becoming a minimalist, 'Why am I living in a 4,000 square foot home by myself?'" she recalled.

"I got rid of so many things that I realised I actually had empty closets and empty rooms.

"So I decided to list my house for sale, and the day I was on my last set was the day I was in the makeup chair and my real estate agent called and said, 'Your house sold.'

"So I'm sitting there going, 'Okay, well, I guess I got to go home and pack, I guess I'm leaving.' And so that really helped me kind of cut the cord."

Lisa added: "Being away from the exposure of the industry, forcing myself to start a new life in New York City, in an apartment in much smaller living space, not having a car... all these adaptions.

"Right away I was like, 'This is how I meant to be living.' And it was it was just awesome."
